Anna Hillmayer was one of the 36 beauties in the “Gallery of Beauty” of Ludwig I of Bavaria. She was the daughter of a Munich game meat dealer. She died at the age of 35 on her birthday and was still unmarried. In the portrait she is wearing the traditional Munich headdress standing in front of the Munich Frauenkirche with a prayer book in her hand. Her piousness has been symbolized here. This painting was completed by Joseph Karl Stieler in 1829. This painting is known to be the last painting of the original ten portraits that was released in the Beauty Gallery for public viewing. Nothing much is known about her life.
