Josepha Conti, who is considered to be one of the most beautiful women immortalized in Gallery of Beauty of German king Ludwig I of Bavaria as well as beauty of 19th century, was born around 1825 as a household servant’s eldest daughter. She was a Bavarian servant. In 1840, at the age of 15, she was married to a painter of 45-year-old named Anton Conti. They lived on Briennerstrasse in Munich, which was near the Royal Residenz. After five years, she was left alone by her husband and then she worked as a maker of canvases for the royal court from 1850 to 1852. Later she married to a Court Councillor.
Portrait was completed in 1844, when she was 19 years old. Nothing much is known about her life.
