Jane Erskine was daughter of the Baron of Erskine, British ambassador to Munich named David Montagu, who had seven daughters including her. She was one of the most beautiful daughters among all. It was Queen Therese, wife of German King Ludwig, introduced her to her husband. King thought her to be perfect to be immortalized in the “Gallery of Beauty”. This portrait was completed only 19 in 1837. Therese convinced Lady Jane to pose for the gallery. She died at the age of 28 in Scotland on 30 March 1846. Nothing much is known about her life.
