St. Mark Enthroned

St. Mark Enthroned is painted by the Italian artist Titian between 1510 and 1511. Presently the painting is situated in the church of Santa Maria della Salutein Venice, Italy.
The painting was made at the critical time of the plague under which Venice was suffering at the time. On the right side, St. Roch and St. Sebastian have been symbolized as the protectors against the disease, and, on the left, Saints Cosmas and Damian, have been seen as the doctors assisting protectors to improve the situation and finally St. Mark, who is sitting on a throne up, has been imagined as the prime figure to guard the Venice and protect the city.
