The Storm is an oil painting completed in 1870 by French painter of the Academic Classicism school Pierre Auguste Cot. This painting is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The was welcomed with huge success on its first display at the Salon of 1873 and it inspired Catharine Lorillard Wolfe to purchase. In 1880 the painting was commissioned by Catharine Lorillard Wolfe through one of Cot’s principal patrons John Wolfe, who was also her cousin. This painting is symbolically same to Le Printemps where young lovers have been featured.
