Vanity is an oil painting by Italian late Renaissance master Titian, executed around 1515. The painting has been housed at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich,Germany. The woman in the painting is believed to be the same woman appeared in some other painting Salome, Woman at the Mirror, and Flora, as well as some Holy Conversations.
After several assumptions who is the real creditor of the painting finally the credit has been bestowed on Titian. Before Titian, in 1748, Francesco Salviati was given credit for the painting, later to Palma the Elder, Giorgione, il Pordenone. Since1884, the work is a part of the Munich’s museum and before it was possibly in emperor Rudolf II’s gallery in Prague.
